Seaford Music Society continued its long tradition of promoting Professional Chamber Music with a 2019-2020 Season that would have consisted of five Chamber Concerts and a Family Concert.  Sadly, as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the last of the Chamber Concerts had to be cancelled and the Family Concert has been postponed

Despite this set-back, the Society remains in a healthy financial state and a full and varied programme of Concerts has been planned, ready to form a new Season that will maintain the standards to which our Members and Supporters have become accustomed.  The Trustees will continue to monitor the situation, on a regular basis, with the objective of ensuring that our Concerts resume, in their usual format, as soon as this becomes legal, practical and safe.  Further details will be publicised, as soon we become confident that they are unlikely to change

In the meantime, Seaford Music Society has organised three Home Concerts that will be available, on-line, live from Bishopstone Manor.  They will be held at 7PM, on Saturday Evenings, and will last about an Hour, with time being available for on-line Discussion, afterwards.  For the avoidance of doubt, this means 7PM, United Kingdom time.  The Trustees are of the firm belief that Professional Musicians should be paid, so we shall charge for these Concerts.  However, we acknowledge the fact that the sound quality will not match that of Concerts at which the audience can be physically present, so the Ticket Price will be just £5.  Please consider making an extra Donation of £5, over and above the Ticket Price, as any profits from these Concerts will be donated to Help Musicians, the new name for the Charity formerly known as the Musicians' Benevolent Fund, which supports Musicians whose livelihood has been curtailed by the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Tickets can only be purchased on-line, using a Credit or Debit Card, and will be processed by ZmURL.  After registration, you will be sent a unique ZmURL link that will able you to join the Concert, via Zoom, on the stated date.  For the avoidance of doubt, the Concerts will not be available at any other times or on any other dates, as they will be live.  The remaining Concert is:

 

JULIA BISHOP AND SEBASTIAN COMBERTI

On 12th September 2020, Julia Bishop, ex-Violinist of Red Priest, will join Sebastian Comberti on Cello, in an exciting programme of Baroque masterworks by Bach, Handel and Vivaldi, culminating in Corelli's ever-popular La Follia.  Tickets can be purchased here

 

The following information may help:

• You will get the best picture on a desktop computer, laptop or tablet, rather than a mobile telephone.  Connecting a laptop or tablet to a television is even better.  If you choose to try this, please make sure that it works, in good time!
• To get the best sound quality, we suggest wearing headphones or connecting your chosen device to a hi-fi system, but it is not essential
• Before the Concert is due to start, click on the unique ZmURL link that you were sent, when you purchased your Ticket.  If you already have the Zoom app installed, this will open up.  Otherwise, your default browser will open up and you will be prompted to download and install it
• You will enter a "waiting room", until the Concert starts, when you will be admitted.  This process will start at 6.40PM.  For the avoidance of doubt, this means 6.40PM, United Kingdom time
• Any audio from you will be muted, during the Concert, and you can choose, for yourself, whether any video from you is on, so that other people at the Concert can see you.  Just click the "video" icon, at the bottom left of the Zoom app
• You can choose to watch the Concert on "speaker view" (best for seeing the Musicians) or "gallery view" (which lets you see the Musicians and the audience).  At the top right of the Zoom app, there is a button that lets you choose
• You can share written comments with others, by clicking the "chat" button at the bottom of the Zoom app.  You can choose to share them with everyone or with just an individual participant.  Please do not share comments, while the Musicians are playing.  It is just as disturbing and distracting, to others, as somebody talking
• You can show your appreciation for the Musicians, by clicking the "reactions" button and the "applause" symbol
• At the end of the Concert, any audio from you will be unmuted, so that you can clap and/or cheer!

The last of the Chamber Concerts, which had been scheduled for 11th May 2020, would have featured the Endellion Quartet, in their Farewell Season.  The holder of Ticket Number 9, for whom we have no contact details, is asked to contact the Treasurer, in order to receive a refund

Seaford Music Society reserves the right to change artists, programmes and venues, in circumstances that are beyond its control

The Corelli Ensemble is a group of Professional Musicians that holds further Chamber Concerts, in Seaford (and elsewhere).  Their next Concert (in Seaford) would have been held on 17th May 2020
